Lancaster Bomber, The Globe and Mail

lancaster-bomber.gif

The Globe and Mail's Facts and Arguments essay by Margaret Leroux describes her father-in-law's later years living with dementia. A career pilot with the RCAF, Bill flew bombers and transport planes in the war. Leroux muses about how living with dementia requires courage under fire.

Leroux writes: "I believe the strength Bill brought to his declining years was the same as that he called upon whenever he climbed into the cockpit of a plane during war. He never knew if he would return, but he knew he would bring his best to the fight."
